have begun to research horror movie posters as I will soon be making my own for my group's horror movie trailer and I would like it to look as professional as possible and I also want it to be something people will look at and make them want to go and see the movie.
I have found that most horror movie posters give a little bit of the story away e.g. location, maybe even part of the story but many of them do have a certain bit of mystery to them for example The Ring movie poster doesn't give anything away and the only way you will find out what the movie is about will be to either watch the trailer for a teaser or go and see the whole movie.
I think that with the trailer that we have made my poster will have elements that give some certain aspects away just to create the sense of intrigue but without giving too much away.
Old horror movie posters:
New movie posters:
There is a vast comparison against old vintage movie posters and new more updated movie posters and it's because we now have things like Photoshop along with other programs where we can make the images more graphical and with better effects compared to old hand made methods.
